Back in the Saddle Again...Was that summer that just passed us by? I can't believe it's already time for
a new school year!
As we get ready to dive in, I'd like to extend a special "WELCOME BACK" to those
familiar faces in our choir family, and say and extra special "WELCOME TO THE FAMILY" to our newest members this
year...
...and I hope that is what you all get out of your experience in choir this year (and every year, for that
matter). We are like a family - we have our good days, our...not so good days, challenges, celebrations, and everything
in between. We have cheered each other on in auditions, and performing opportunities, and we have held each other up
when struggling through difficult personal issues. Through it all, we strive to make some really beautiful music, and
some amazing memories to go with it.
As a start to our new year, and with many changes and events to discuss, I'd
like to invite you to our Choral Department Orientation on Wednesday, 8/25/10 from 6:30-7:30
in the AHS Choir room (rm. 810 in the Arts Building). Light refreshments will be provided.
I look forward
to working with each and every one of you this year!

Things and Stuff...Parents and Students - I am in the process of uploading rehearsal tracks for our
upcoming concerts to the Choir Moodle. Please click here to go directly to the login page. Students are expected to rehearse outside
of class time using this feature. You will be tested periodically to check your progress.
Also, I would like
to call your attention to our new ongoing fundraiser through Music in Motion. We are excited to participate with this company through our fundraising endeavors.
A percentage of every sale goes directly to AHS Choirs, so please take a look at their items, and pass this information along
if you know anyone else who might be interested.
See you at the Winter Concert on December 16th!

September happeningsLast night was our PTO Open House for Asheville High. I had a wonderful
time meeting so many new choir parents at that event! Thank you for coming out!
Parents, if you have supplied
your e-mail address to me, you should have received a message regarding the scheduling of our upcoming booster meeting.
Please check your e-mail again, as I have sent a revised message due to some errors in the poll link.
Also, I hope
your students have brought home their fundraising forms for Silver Canyon Coffee. We hope to have much success with
this event, as the students are trying to raise money for new uniforms and our spring trips. Please continue to support
them in their fundraising efforts as we continue throughout the year.
Finally, I have scheduled a CHOIR
Open House night for Wednesday, October 7th at 6:30 p.m. Please mark your calendars and plan to join
us for light refreshments and discussion about our goals for the AHS Choir Program this year! I look forward to seeing
you then.

New beginnings...Another school year is nearly upon us. We have many exciting things planned
