We did a thing...
Since we weren't able to do a winter concert this year, we put together a few solos from some students who were willing to share their songs, combined with some of our favorite memories from last year.
This has been a very challenging semester, particularly for choir, as we navigate the waters of virtual learning. One of the things that stood out the most is how we miss being together and singing together in the same space. Music isn't just about the notes on the page, it's about the voices and the individuals, and the energy that resonates through the music and the room when we work together to create an audible art.
Here's to a new year! Out with the new, and back to the old!
Wishing everyone a safe, healthy, and happy holiday season.
Wow! What a crazy week this has been with the snow. I hope everyone has been safe and warm during this time. While I enjoyed a few days of...forced relaxation...this has certainly thrown us for a loop in preparing for our concerts!
Here is an update:
Tickets for both events are $5.00 for adults, $3.00 for students/seniors, and children ages 5 and under are FREE.
Due to low participation, our talent show scheduled for this evening has been cancelled. We plan to reschedule in the spring. Please check back later for updates.
We have several performances coming up in time for the holidays. Please make plans to join us at any of these events:
Members of the AHS Chamber Singers will perform in Biltmore Village for the annual "Dickens in the Village" event. We will perform on the stage at 6:30 and will be roving around the village after that to carol in front of different businesses.
Chamber Singers will perform for the "Candlelight Christmas" event at the Biltmore Estate. If you are interested in attending this event, please click here for more information on how to purchase tickets.
Our winter concert will be held in the Arts Theatre at 7:00 p.m. Tickets prices are:
ADULTS - $5.00
STUDENTS/SENIORS - $3.00
CHILDREN 5 and UNDER - FREE
Join us tonight for our spring choir concert, "Songs of Stage and Screen". The concert begins at 7:00 p.m. in the Arts Theatre at Asheville High School (enter off Victoria Rd.)
Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for students and seniors (65+) and children ages 5 and under are free.
Come on out and support our incredibly talented students! We promise you'll have a good time. :)
We received notification from administration at 5:20 pm this evening that our winter concert has been postponed due to anticipated inclement weather. We are looking at other possible dates and will post an update soon regarding if/when we reschedule our performance.
Again, there will NOT be a performance this evening of the AHS Winter Choir Concert.
Thank you for understanding.
Our choirs will be performing at the annual tree lighting ceremony in Biltmore Village this Friday, December 1 from approximately 6:00-8:00pm. Join us for caroling around the Village, as well as a performance on the "main stage" just prior to the tree lighting.
Parents, you can view the informational letter your student's Canvas account.
Hope to see you there!
